Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has criticized the Mahama government. He claims it prioritizes political persecution over effective governance. He believes this reflects a deliberate agenda to target opponents.
After the debate on the 2025 Budget Statement, he spoke out. Afenyo-Markin condemned the government's approach to law enforcement. He argued that it is driven by vendetta, not due process.
"All you know is persecution," he said. "Instead of focusing on the economy, you hunt down opponents."
He also claimed that legal actions against former officials show bias and unfairness. “Justice must be pursued without malice or political interference,” he stated.
Afenyo-Markin warned that state institutions are being used against dissenters. He urged the government to focus on policies that address economic challenges instead of divisive tactics.
He cautioned that this approach could worsen political tensions and undermine democracy in Ghana.
