Former Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi believes Michael Essien deserves more appreciation.
Mikel and Essien played together for most of their careers at Chelsea.
Essien joined the club in 2005 and had a successful run. However, injuries affected his playing time later on.
While playing the “Winner Stays On” challenge with TNT Sports, Mikel praised Essien. He called him an underrated player and highlighted his skills.
"Michael Essien didn’t get the recognition he deserved," Mikel said. "We talk about many great midfielders in Chelsea and the Premier League."
He added, "We called him the train. When he goes, it is hard to stop; power, speed, technique—he had it all."
The two players appeared together in 125 games for Chelsea. They won 82 matches, drew 23, and lost 20.
