Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has apologized to the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He is also a candidate for the 2024 presidential election.
Dr. Bawumia spoke in London, UK. He acknowledged that the NPP made mistakes in the last elections. These missteps led to significant losses in key areas.
He said, “The NPP did a lot of work, but we did not get everything right.” He added that they got several things wrong and apologized for not achieving better results.
Despite this setback, Dr. Bawumia remains hopeful about the future. He believes that if given another chance, they will improve. “We have learned lessons that will guide us forward,” he stated.
After the party's defeat in 2024, a committee investigated the reasons behind it. This 12-member committee was led by former Speaker Professor Mike Oquaye. They have presented their findings to party leadership.
However, the NPP has not shared the report with the public. They argue it is not meant for public consumption.
In these elections, the NPP faced major losses in both presidential and parliamentary contests.
