Benjamin Kofi Quashie is the Chairman of the NDC South Africa branch. He has dismissed claims made by Rev. Ntim Fordjour, an MP for Assin South. Fordjour alleged that certain flights are being used to traffic illegal drugs in Ghana.
Quashie spoke on JoyPrime's News Flash on April 7. He emphasized that discussions should focus on important issues for Ghanaians. He believes it is better to address people's needs than to dwell on what he calls an unfounded saga.
"We should discuss matters of butter and bread for our people," he said. Quashie urged that this issue should not receive undue attention. He feels the government has provided enough information about the flights.
He stated, "When I was coming here, I decided this matter has been settled." He referenced comments from Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC National Communication Officer. Quashie also mentioned interviews with the Military and Narcotic Control Board (NACOB) as reasons to move on.
However, he insists that without solid proof from Rev. Fordjour, this issue shouldn't dominate national discourse. Last week, Rev. Fordjour called for authorities to reveal aircraft contents. He expressed suspicion they may be linked to drug trafficking or money laundering.
In response, the Minister of State in charge of Government Communications dismissed these claims. The minister accused Rev. Fordjour of spreading falsehoods regarding the allegations.
