The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is regrouping for a comeback in 2028.
Deputy General Secretary Haruna Mohammed stated they are preparing to reclaim power. He criticized the current government as “very incompetent.”
On April 16, he appeared on Joy News' PM Express. He said, “We are very focused and determined.”
Haruna revealed that the party’s National Council met recently. They received a report from a committee led by Professor Mike Ocquaye.
This committee had two tasks: investigate the 2024 election defeat and recommend reforms.
He explained, “On January 2, we held a National Council meeting.” An ad hoc committee was formed to address these issues.
The committee had three months to complete its work. April 16 was the deadline for submitting their report.
Before this submission, the National Council held an Executive Committee meeting. They discussed other matters before receiving the report.
Haruna described the meeting as energetic and purposeful. He noted that members were focused and determined.
“It showed how resilient we are,” he added. The NPP is ready to take power back from this government.
He did not hold back his criticism of the current administration. “This incompetent government must be replaced,” he declared.
Haruna emphasized that the party's revival is rooted in tradition. He believes public support aligns with NPP's history.
He indicated that the NPP is preparing for a strong return to power. The leadership's tone is shifting from reflection to confrontation.
“We know where we fell short,” he said confidently. “Now we are going to rise again.”
