'Thank You Tour could have been a press release' - Dr. Asah-Asante blasts NPP

A Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana has criticized the NPP’s Thank You Tour. Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante called it a misplaced priority. He believes a simple press release would have sufficed.

Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express, he said the tour distracts from important work. The party needs to heal internal divisions after its contentious primaries.

“I don’t think it’s necessary,” he stated. “We have more pressing issues to address.”

He highlighted unresolved tensions from the bitter primaries. “The bickering and rancour affected the electoral process,” he noted.

Dr. Asah-Asante warned that ignoring these issues could harm the party. “This is something that lingers in the political space,” he said.

“It’s time for them to address it,” he added. This way, they can win back disenchanted members.

He mentioned key figures at risk of leaving if problems persist. “The likes of Amoako Baah and Afoko need attention,” he said.

Regarding the Thank You Tour, Dr. Asah-Asante was clear. “It could have been handled with a press release,” he remarked.

He emphasized that specific issues need addressing within the party. “These problems are creating all manner of difficulties.”

In conclusion, he dismissed the tour's value entirely: “For me, it’s a waste of time.”
