'We’ll reduce fares if fuel drops to ¢12 per litre' -GPRTU assures commuters

The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has pledged to lower transport fares if fuel prices decrease to 12 Ghana cedis per liter. This assurance comes amidst rising fuel costs, which have significantly impacted the transportation sector and commuters alike. GPRTU's General Secretary, Godfred Abulley, emphasized that fare adjustments are contingent on the fluctuations in fuel prices, highlighting that any reduction would be aligned with tangible decreases at the pump. Currently, as fuel costs remain high, transport fares have also seen an increase, straining the budgets of many travelers. The union's commitment aims to alleviate some of this financial burden for commuters while maintaining transparency regarding pricing policies linked to fuel market dynamics. As discussions around fare adjustments continue, GPRTU remains optimistic about potential price drops and is keen to support passengers through more affordable travel options as soon as conditions allow. This proactive stance reflects the union's dedication to balancing operational sustainability with the economic realities faced by its members and their customers.
