11 dead in gory Amanase accident on Accra-Kumasi highway

Eleven people have died in a serious accident. This happened around 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22. The location was Amanase, near Suhum, along the Accra-Kumasi Highway.

The crash involved a fuel tanker and a Benz Sprinter bus. The fuel tanker had the registration number GR 1300-16. The Sprinter bus was registered as GW 6510-23.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Preliminary reports suggest the tanker driver was dozing off. He veered into the lane of the oncoming bus, causing a head-on collision.

Two females and nine males died instantly in the crash. Several others suffered life-threatening injuries.

Emergency personnel from Suhum Fire Service and Police responded quickly. They helped with rescue operations and managed traffic at the scene. ADO1 Akonnor Opare Ohene Daniel confirmed that survivors are receiving treatment at Suhum Government Hospital.

Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Awatey expressed sadness over the incident. She is heading to Suhum Government Hospital to assess the situation. She plans to provide support for transferring critically injured victims if necessary.
