120 days promises not mere checkboxes on a list – President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has emphasized that his 120-day promises are not just checkboxes.

He stated these promises represent a major change in government operations. This change focuses on transparency, accountability, and efficiency. It also shows urgency for the well-being of every Ghanaian.

In a recent address, President Mahama highlighted his administration's achievements in the first 120 days. He mentioned forming a lean government and establishing a strong code of conduct. He also noted efforts to eliminate burdensome taxes and investigate past wrongdoings.

Additionally, he launched job creation programs and addressed illegal mining issues. Other initiatives include reviving the environment, promoting tourism, and streamlining scholarships. Support for vulnerable populations and accountability for security agencies were also key points.

“These actions signify a fundamental shift in how government operates,” he said. He reiterated that they focus on transparency and urgency for all Ghanaians' well-being.

Mahama added that their first 120 days have been marked by decisive action. They aim to build a just, prosperous, and united Ghana together.

In this period, significant progress has been made in governance, economy, education, and social welfare. However, several pledges are still pending initiation.

Some notable fulfilled promises include:

- The rollout of the Mahama Cares social protection framework.
- A free sanitary pad initiative for schoolgirls.
- Launching the One Million Coders Programme to enhance youth digital skills.
- Introducing the Adwumawura Programme to promote job creation.
- Providing free tertiary education for persons with disabilities.
- The Black Star Experience program to revive tourism and culture.
- Restructuring loss-making State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) for better efficiency.
- Seed funding for the Women’s Development Bank.
- Establishing the Accelerated Export Development Council.
- Investigating the Akosombo dam spillage that affected thousands.

These actions lay the groundwork for "Resetting Ghana" and building "the Ghana we want together."
