16-year-old student arrested with locally made gun

The Tafo Pankrono Divisional Police Command has arrested a 16-year-old student. He is in Form Two at Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School (OKESS).

The arrest was made for unlawful possession of a locally made firearm.

School authorities conducted a routine inspection in the dormitory. This search took place on Wednesday morning around 9:30 a.m. The weapon was found in the student's belongings.

The school administration detained him and called the police. During questioning, the student claimed the firearm belonged to his stepfather, Mr. Daniel Owusu Baafi.

Following this information, police arrested Mr. Baafi the next day, Thursday, May 15, 2025. He is assisting with investigations into the case.

Both the student and Mr. Baafi have been granted police enquiry bail. They must report to the police on Monday, May 19, 2025.

This is to help with ongoing investigations regarding the firearm's possession. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Godwin Ahianyo shared these details in a press statement on Sunday.
