18 rooms destroyed in Maaha Beach Resort fire – Ellembelle Fire Commander

The Ellembelle District Fire Commander, DO2 Mark Hamilton, confirmed a fire at Maaha Beach Resort.

Eighteen rooms were destroyed in the blaze on Wednesday night, May 28. The fire started around 7 p.m. at the nearby Vision Beach Resort. It quickly spread to parts of Maaha Beach Resort, causing significant damage.

DO2 Hamilton spoke to Citi News after firefighters controlled the fire by 10 p.m. He assured the public that no lives were lost. “For Maaha Beach, 18 rooms were affected. For Vision Resort, 15 rooms were affected,” he said. He added that there were no casualties and that Maaha is operational.

Hamilton addressed claims about the Ghana Gas fire tender's inability to assist. He called these reports inaccurate. “The call was placed at 07:59 hours, and we arrived by 08:04 hours,” he explained. The Ghana Gas tender was the first dispatched and arrived in under four minutes.

A second pump was later called for assistance, bringing two pumps on site. Fire officers will conduct a detailed assessment to determine the cause of the fire and evaluate safety measures at both resorts.
