Two men, Emmanuel Osei and Bismark Asare, were sentenced to six months in prison for conspiracy and theft by the Accra Circuit Court. The court found them guilty of stealing a generator valued at 2,900 Ghana cedis from Golden Star Resources Limited. The incident occurred on July 14, 2021, when the defendants conspired to steal the generator from a site owned by the company.
The case unfolded when security personnel at the site discovered the theft and apprehended Osei with the stolen generator. During investigations, he implicated Asare as his accomplice. The prosecution presented evidence that included testimonies and photographs linking both men to the crime. Ultimately, they were convicted based on their involvement in planning and executing the theft, which resulted in their six-month prison sentences aimed at deterring future offenses.
