2 siblings die after being locked in water drum by 6-year-old sister

A tragic incident in Takoradi claimed the lives of two siblings, aged 12 and 8, after their six-year-old sister accidentally locked them inside a water drum during play. The event occurred on January 9, 2025, and was reported to the police around 6:45 PM.

The children were found unconscious in the water-filled drum in their family’s kitchen and were rushed to the Takoradi Government Hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival.

Their bodies have been sent to the hospital morgue for preservation and investigation.

Preliminary police findings suggest the children climbed into the drum while playing and asked their younger sister to close the lid, which she was later unable to reopen. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full details of the incident.
