2023 Education Graduates cry out over job delays, call for immediate action

A group of 2023 graduates from Ghana’s public Colleges of Education is speaking out. They are part of the Coalition of Unemployed Trained Teachers (CUTT). They want the government to address delays in their recruitment.

On May 26, the coalition released a statement. They urged the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education, and Ghana Education Service (GES) to take action. They want financial clearance and for the GES recruitment portal to reopen. Many qualified teachers have been left waiting after completing their national service.

The coalition stated that silence from authorities is causing hardship. Members are facing financial, emotional, and psychological stress nationwide. They are ready to serve but feel their skills are being wasted.

The group consists of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) graduates from all 46 accredited Public Colleges of Education in Ghana. All members have completed their four-year programs and passed the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE). They finished their mandatory National Service in February 2025 but remain unemployed.

CUTT is demanding two immediate actions: financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance and reopening the GES recruitment portal by the Ministry of Education and GES.

They believe this stagnation frustrates individual aspirations and fails to utilize qualified personnel in education. The coalition plans to intensify advocacy efforts through engagement with stakeholders and media coverage.
