2024 Polls: Low turnout in NPP strongholds a wake-up call – Kwabena Agyepong

Kwabena Agyepong, a former NPP flagbearer aspirant, has spoken out. He urged the party’s leadership to focus on internal issues. This comes after the NPP's defeat in the 2024 general elections.

Agyepong shared his thoughts during an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu. The interview aired on Channel One TV’s Face to Face on April 29. He stressed the need for introspection and strategic reforms within the party.

He said, “We should concentrate more on repairing any damage.” Agyepong believes senior members know what went wrong. Fixing these issues should be their top priority.

He suggested that senior party figures meet privately to discuss performance. They could analyze Professor Mike Oquaye's post-election report together. Such a meeting could lead to effective strategies for restoring voter confidence.

Agyepong pointed out low voter turnout in traditional strongholds. The Ashanti and Eastern regions saw significant declines in participation. “This shows our core base was not happy with us,” he noted.

He emphasized that winning back supporters is crucial for the party's future. “Any step we take now is to regain their confidence,” he added. Concentrating on these steps is essential for rebuilding trust within the party.
