Former Lands and Natural Resources Minister Abu Jinapor has described 2024 as a difficult year for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), attributing the party’s electoral struggles to low voter turnout, even in its strongholds.
Speaking on the NPP’s performance, Jinapor noted that the party suffered significant setbacks, similar to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2016 and 2000.
He emphasized the need for honest introspection, acknowledging that many NPP supporters abstained from voting.
He pointed to the historically low voter turnout in 2024, particularly in the Ashanti and Eastern regions, as a concern requiring thorough investigation.
Jinapor urged the party to await findings from Prof. Mike Ocquaye’s committee while working to revive its support base.
