The NPP MP for Ofoase Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has strongly criticized the 2025 budget, arguing that it fails to reset the economy and instead deepens Ghana’s financial crisis.
Speaking in Parliament, he raised concerns over high government spending on the Office of Government Machinery, the removal of gas subsidies, and a new policy introducing quarterly electricity tariff adjustments.
He warned that these measures would lead to higher electricity bills, increased fuel prices, rising food costs, and worsening unemployment.
He further questioned the budget’s commitment to infrastructure and healthcare, describing it as a missed opportunity to address pressing national challenges.
