2025 Eid-Al-Adha: National Chief Imam calls for global peace, moral renewal

Ghana’s National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has called for peace. He urged an end to violence in Gaza and other conflict zones. Ghanaians and the global community should embrace moral renewal and interfaith unity.

In his 2025 Eid-Al-Adha message, he emphasized the festival's deeper meaning. Eid is not just a ritual; it calls for personal integrity and societal reform. It also promotes global peace.

“Eid-Al-Adha is a festivity of sacrifice,” he said. It reaffirms our faith in Allah. He cited Qur'an Chapter 22, Verse 37, reminding believers that “Allah values our commitment to piety.”

Dr. Sharubutu encouraged Muslims to reflect on the celebration's moral essence. Its true value inspires transformation from negativity to positivity. Without this reflection, Eid's virtues risk becoming hollow rituals.

He highlighted Prophet Abraham’s obedience as a unifying message for all Abrahamic faiths. This story connects Christians, Jews, and Muslims alike. He urged them to strengthen peaceful coexistence and mutual respect.

The Chief Imam condemned “genocidal impunity and moral bankruptcy” in Gaza. “We cannot surrender our humanity to modern-day barbarity,” he stated. He called on world leaders to uphold justice, dignity, and peace.

He concluded with a vision for a new global order based on shared values. This order should prioritize RIGHT over might and UNITY over disunity. It should promote FORGIVENESS over vindictiveness and PEACE over violence.

His message was delivered by his Personal Assistant, Dr Abubakari Mohammed Marzuq Azindoo. He called for concrete actions rooted in faith and compassion to address today’s crises.
