2025 Homowo Festival: Sports Minister hails Gbese Mantse’s peace cup initiative

Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, praised the Gbese Mantse’s initiative. He called it a symbol of unity. The initiative includes sporting activities in this year’s Homowo celebrations.

The Peace Cup Match will take place on August 7, 2025. It will be held at the Accra Sports Stadium as part of the festivities. This follows a successful match between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kpando Heart of Lions before the 2024 elections.

Kofi Adams spoke at the launch on May 2. He expressed full support for the Gbese Traditional Council. He highlighted how sports can unify Ghanaians through peace.

“I am happy that His Royal Majesty has prioritized sports,” he said. “This unity game concludes the Homowo activities.” He thanked Nii Ayi Bonte II and his cabinet for promoting unity.

As Minister, Adams promised government support for the event. “We will work together to make this year’s event even greater,” he assured.
