2025 Kwahu Paragliding: Over 200 expected to fly

The 2025 Kwahu Paragliding Festival is happening at the Odweanoma site. More than 200 people are expected to take flight this year. So far, seven tandem pilots have flown with 13 passengers. This sets the stage for a lively Easter celebration.

The Ghana Tourism Authority has introduced new activities for visitors. These include indoor games and a playground for children. The goal is to make the event more family-friendly and enjoyable.

Rev. Jones Nelson, from the Ghana Tourism Authority, shared details about the festival. He said, “This year, we have added activities to make it interesting.” There will be playing cards, ludo, oware, skating, and areas for children. If weather permits, they hope to achieve around 200 flights.

Despite the excitement, there are concerns about road conditions. The road from Atibie to the paragliding site is in poor shape. Drivers on the Mpraeso-Atibie stretch expressed frustration over unfulfilled promises to fix it. One driver said, “They charge us every year to fix the road but nothing changes.”

Thrill-seekers are still excited about flying this year. Abigail Ashley was the first person to fly at this festival. She described her experience as exhilarating and fun. She urged authorities to train local pilots and hold events beyond Easter.

“The experience was fine,” she said enthusiastically. “I came with full vim and I conquered.” She enjoyed her pilot's skills despite initial wind challenges. Organizers hope good weather will allow everyone interested to enjoy their flights this year.
