2025 Unity Cup: This is the perfect time to observe players - Otto Addo

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo sees the 2025 Unity Cup as a chance to evaluate players.

Ghana's senior national team is currently in London for the tournament. On May 26, he named a 23-man squad.

Some high-profile players like Mohammed Kudus, Thomas Partey, and Antoine Semenyo are missing. However, there are several returns and five debutants in the team.

Addo believes this tournament will help players impress the technical staff. He stated, "These two matches are extremely important for the team."

He compared them to the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September. "This is the perfect time to observe players we've monitored," he added.

"Team building takes time; it doesn't happen overnight," he said. He sees this as an opportunity for young players to prove themselves.

"Our aim is to create competition within the team," he explained. This can only happen by giving all talents a chance to showcase their skills.

"We're focusing on building a strong team," Addo continued. He wants young players to play and become key parts of his future plans.

"The Unity Cup comes at a crucial time for us," he noted. The team is excited to welcome back absent players and integrate newcomers.

Other teams in the tournament include Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica.

Ghana will face Nigeria on May 28 in the semifinal match. The winner will advance to the final while the loser plays for third place.
