453 Blue Water River Guards pass out to protect environment

A total of 453 Blue Water River Guards have completed training. They underwent four weeks of training at the Naval Forward Operation Base in Ezinlibo. This base is located in the Jomoro municipality of the Western Region.

The training is part of the Blue Water Initiative. This initiative was launched by the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources. It aims to equip youth with skills for protecting rivers.

The ceremony marks the first phase of this project. The goal is to train at least 2,000 Ghanaian youth. This will help restore water quality affected by illegal mining activities.

Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, reviewed the parade. He described the event as a new dawn in fighting illegal mining. These activities have harmed our water bodies.
