The West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) began today, August 19, 2024, with 460,611 candidates from 1,003 schools participating.

This number is a 2.66% increase from last year.

The exams will conclude on September 20, 2024.

WAEC has implemented strict measures to ensure fairness but expressed concern over reports of bribery and cheating attempts.

The Council warned against these practices, stating that violations could lead to severe penalties, including cancellation of results.
