Seven Liberians have graduated from the Regional Maritime University (RMU) in Accra. They completed a six-month Train-the-Trainer programme. This programme focused on Welding and Fabrication, as well as Plumbing and Pipework.
The initiative was a collaboration with Corporate Professional Industrial (CPI) in Liberia. It aims to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in West Africa, especially in Liberia.
The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) sponsored the programme. It produced five certified TVET instructors in Welding and Fabrication. Among them is one female instructor. Additionally, there are two instructors specializing in Plumbing and Pipeworkâone male and one female.
At the graduation ceremony on Tuesday, Dr. Jethro W. Brooks Jr., Acting Vice Chancellor of RMU, spoke highly of the graduates. He praised their dedication to acquiring skills for training future professionals in Liberia.
