Former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has announced that 70% of Ghana’s Senior High Schools (SHS) have successfully eliminated the double-track system.
Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show on February 14, he credited this achievement to strategic infrastructure expansion and policy reforms.
Dr. Adutwum, who served as Education Minister from 2021 to 2024, highlighted the government's focus on building additional classrooms, dormitories, and other facilities to ease overcrowding.
While acknowledging that some schools still follow the double-track system, he assured that efforts are ongoing to phase it out completely.
He urged continued investment in education, emphasizing that quality learning environments are essential for sustaining progress. “We must remain committed to improving infrastructure and learning conditions for future generations,” he stated.
