‘As for this guy, we should beat him’ — Paul Adom-Otchere recounts airport incident

Paul Adom-Otchere, a seasoned journalist and host of Good Evening Ghana, shared a shocking experience from the Kumasi International Airport.

On his Metro TV show, he described being verbally attacked by an unknown man last Saturday. He felt compelled to share this incident because it relates to his work on Good Evening Ghana.

Paul was returning from a funeral in the Bono area. He stopped at Kumasi International Airport to catch an Africa World Airlines flight back to Accra. While there, he engaged in casual political talk with a senior MP and an NDC appointee.

During their conversation, an unknown man approached them. After greeting the MP and the NDC official, he pointed at Paul and said, “As for this guy, we should beat him.”

Startled by the comment, Paul asked who would be beaten and why. The man continued with threats and insults. He said things like, “You think that… who do you think you are? If this is Nigeria... you’re a foolish boy. We will beat you.”

Paul found the man's behavior surprising and concerning. This incident occurred in a public space like an airport.

He later learned the identity of the man but did not know him during the encounter. This event has sparked discussions about political intolerance and journalist safety in Ghana's polarized environment.
