President John Dramani Mahama welcomed Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang back to work. This event took place in Accra on Thursday, May 22. He shared insights from doctors who assessed her health. Mahama said, “The doctors say you are 20 years younger.” He added that a professor confirmed she is fit for her job.
While acknowledging her positive health report, Mahama advised caution. He urged the Vice President to ease back into her duties slowly. “We will ask that you take it easy for a little while,” he said. After some time, they will evaluate how things are going.
Vice President Opoku-Agyemang returned after an extended medical leave. This leave lasted longer than the three weeks initially announced by the government. During this time, she traveled abroad for further treatment after initial consultations at UGMC. Her absence raised concerns about governance continuity since both leaders were away.
With her recovery confirmed, Opoku-Agyemang will gradually resume her official duties. Her return is expected to bring renewed momentum to government operations.
