‘Era of impunity over’ – Sukparu backs INTERPOL Red Notice for Ofori-Atta

Mohammed Adams Sukparu, the MP for Sissala West, supports the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). He backs their efforts to arrest former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. Sukparu believes the era of impunity for political elites is over.

On Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily, he praised the OSP's decision. They have triggered an INTERPOL Red Notice against Ofori-Atta. He is wanted for failing to respond to multiple summons.

“This is a different era,” Sukparu said. “We now have a president who thinks about the country.” He criticized the previous administration and supported the Special Prosecutor's actions.

Ofori-Atta has been added to INTERPOL’s Red Notice list at the OSP's request. This escalates efforts to bring him back to Ghana amid corruption investigations. INTERPOL states he is wanted for "Using Public Office for Profit."

Sukparu blamed former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for fostering arrogance and impunity during Ofori-Atta’s time in office. “Nana Addo pampered Ken Ofori-Atta,” he said, calling him a "spoiled child."

Key issues under investigation include:

1. Petroleum and Minerals Revenue Assurance: Contracts between Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited and GRA.
2. Electricity Company Contract Termination: Termination with Beijing Xiao Cheng Technology.
3. National Cathedral Project: Procurement procedures related to financial transactions.
4. Ambulance Procurement: A contract with Service Ghana Auto Group Limited.
5. GRA Tax P-Fund Management: Handling of funds from the Tax P-Fund Account.
