‘Help me save my daughter’s sight’ – Mother of 16-year-old girl hit by bullet cries for support

The family of 16-year-old Suzi Adwoa Penamang is in urgent need of help. Suzi is a student at the Seventh Day Adventist Senior High School in Bantama, Ashanti Region. They are seeking financial assistance to prevent her from going blind.

On April 4, 2025, a tragic incident occurred. Suzi was hit in the eye by a stray bullet. This happened during a confrontation involving another student, Bernard Amoabeng. The dispute started over whether Bernard's gun was real. To prove it, he accidentally fired the weapon and struck Suzi.

Suzi was admitted to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but has since been discharged. Her condition remains critical, requiring regular medical reviews. Her family fears she could lose her sight without immediate treatment.

This incident has caused public outrage and raised concerns about student safety. Many people are calling for reforms to prevent similar events in schools.

Suzi’s mother, Afia Comfort, shared their emotional struggle. She pleaded for help from Ghanaians: “I beg you to help me operate on my daughter’s eye.” She expressed that they have no support from anywhere else.

The family is reaching out to the public and government officials for assistance with Suzi’s treatment. They hope to restore her vision with the community's help.
