‘Suspend’ Thank You Tour – NPP warned after Kennedy Agyapong, Abronye clash

A former presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, has given advice to the party. He suggests they stop their ongoing 'Thank You Tour'.

He warns that if they ignore his advice, the tour could further divide the party. Agyarko believes the tour was meant to unite members but is causing discord instead. He stated that it is leading to blame-shifting and internal strife.

Agyarko expressed concern about negative events during the tour. He said these issues threaten the party's future and its reputation among Ghanaians. He emphasized that this situation is damaging goodwill and trust built over time.

He called on party leadership to act quickly and decisively. Agyarko urged them to reassess the direction of the Thank You Tour. He believes they need to avoid a collision course and maintain unity within the party.

The politician stressed that re-evaluating the tour is essential for upholding NPP's legacy. Recently, tensions arose between presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong and Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC) during a tour stop in Berekum.

Abronye questioned the sincerity of those advocating for unity in the party. He accused them of previously creating divisions that benefited their opponents in elections. Abronye rejected Agyapong’s suggestion to pardon suspended or departed members, prioritizing discipline instead.

In response, an upset Agyapong took the microphone to defend himself. He warned against intimidation from unnamed individuals within the party. Agyapong criticized some members for acting as if they owned the party despite minimal contributions.

Some attendees had to intervene and guide him back to his seat as he resisted their efforts.
