A-G: National Service, SkyTrain Scandals Investigations to conclude by mid-April

Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, announced investigations into two scandals. These are the National Service and SkyTrain scandals. He expects these investigations to conclude by mid-April. This will allow prosecutions to begin.

At a press conference in Accra, Dr. Ayine shared details about the National Service scandal. Eight suspects have been interrogated so far. Some of them are cooperating with investigators. Evidence shows that vendors paid top executives directly. It is also alleged that the CEO and others paid a Ghanaian MP to suppress the story.

Regarding the SkyTrain scandal, Dr. Ayine confirmed a payment of $2 million. This payment was made at the request of Prof. Ameyaw Ekumfi and Mr. Solomon Asamoah, CEO of GIIF. Mr. Asamoah is currently hiding in Senegal and refuses to return to Ghana for three months.

Dr. Ayine stated that if Asamoah does not return, he will be tried in absentia. Meanwhile, Prof. Ekumfi remains in Ghana and will face prosecution as well.

The Attorney General emphasized the government's commitment to accountability and fighting corruption in public institutions.
