A-Plus' full address to AG Dominic Ayine

Official Statement from Hon. Kwame Asare Obeng (A-Plus)
Member of Parliament, Gomoa Central Constituency

I want to address the recent misunderstanding with my senior colleague, Hon. Dr. Dominic Ayine.

This issue involves two social media posts.

First, a fake Twitter account impersonated me. It claimed that the Hon. Attorney General is corrupt and a thief.

Second, I responded on Facebook after the Attorney General referenced that fake account during his press conference.

I want to clarify that I have never accused Hon. Dr. Ayine of corruption or theft. That claim is false and misleading. The statements circulating are from a fraudulent Twitter account impersonating me. Although it uses my name and photo, I do not control it. Verification on X can be obtained through paid subscriptions, making impersonation easier.

You can view the fake account here: [Fake Account Link](https://x.com/KwameAplus_?t=k8u3Vhui4zIyXt1lBfu0gg&s=09).

My official remarks about the sanitation levy are available on my verified Facebook page. They are clear and accessible to everyone. I never used terms like "corrupt" or "thief." Please refer to my Facebook page for accurate information.

The impersonator distorted my position to create confusion and tension.

At his press conference, Hon. Dr. Ayine invited questions about an alleged scandal involving the National Service Secretariat (NSS). I want to state clearly that I have no knowledge of this matter or any connection to it. I have never received payments from NSS nor contacted anyone regarding this issue.

My only involvement was in November 2024 when someone approached me claiming he was falsely accused. He sought my help as a media personality to clear his name through media engagements.

If this support is seen as an attempt to suppress the case, I disagree strongly. Every accused person deserves to be heard.

In the past, I've supported several government appointees who faced prosecution under the previous administration but were later exonerated by the current Attorney General. Those who know me understand that I stand by people in difficult times.

For example, I publicly supported Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson because I believe in his integrity and innocence from the start.

These are the facts of the situation. If Hon. Dr. Ayine has contrary information, he should make it public for transparency's sake.

I understand Dr. Ayine’s frustration due to offensive remarks made by an impersonation account using my name and image. Unfortunately, there is little I can do about that account's existence or content.

Regarding my response on Facebook about the Attorney General's comments at the press conference: I admit that post was mine but recognize its tone was inappropriate.

As a Member of Parliament and junior colleague, I sincerely apologize to Hon. Dr. Ayine and the public for my choice of words.

I take full responsibility for what I've said and done; therefore, I've deleted that post—a rare action for me.

The fight against corruption remains crucial for President John Dramani Mahama and our NDC government as a whole.

We must engage in this effort with integrity and respect for one another.

Let us move forward together with unity and sincerity for Ghana's welfare as our ultimate goal.

Signed:
Honorable Kwame Asare Obeng (A-Plus)
Member of Parliament
Gomoa Central Constituency
