Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has denied corruption allegations. These claims were made by MP Kwame Asare Obeng, known as A Plus.
On April 30, Dr. Ayine briefed the media about corruption cases. He called the accusations baseless, malicious, and fabricated.
He stated that A Plus's social media post was false and laughable. "A Plus warned me not to do anything silly," he said. "That is laughable."
Dr. Ayine explained that he has nothing to hide. He noted that A Plus claimed he was corrupt because of campaign contributions from a businessman.
He dismissed suggestions of his involvement in the Sanitation Levy's passage. He also denied being part of the Finance Committee or influencing its composition.
The Attorney General rejected claims of diverting funds from the levy. “I’m not friends with whoever benefited from the Sanitation levy,” he stated.
Dr. Ayine challenged A Plus to provide proof for his allegations. “If receiving donations is thievery, then there are 276 thieves in Parliament,” he said.
He urged A Plus to hold a press conference or report him to the police if he has evidence of wrongdoing.
Dr. Ayine concluded by saying he thinks through his actions carefully. He responded to what he called a veiled threat in A Plus’s post.
