A devastating fire has destroyed several residential buildings in Bomso, Kumasi.
The blaze started in a single-room apartment and quickly spread.
Victims and witnesses say an explosion from an electricity meter sparked the fire.
At least fifty rooms were engulfed, leaving many valuables destroyed.
The tightly packed houses in Bomso helped the fire spread rapidly.
These structures are poorly built, with visible cracks and weak foundations.
Valuables lost include refrigerators, kitchen utensils, and personal belongings worth thousands of cedis.
Many victims shared heartbreaking stories of losing everything to the flames.
Most could not salvage any possessions due to the fire's intensity.
Crowds gathered as firefighters worked to control the blaze.
DO2 Appiah Anthony noted that cramped housing made access difficult for responders.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation by authorities.
The fire service has not yet made a conclusive assessment.
Anwal Sadat Ahmed, Municipal Chief Executive for Asokwa, addressed residents.
He promised that local officials would work closely with firefighters on the investigation.
Ahmed also pledged immediate relief efforts for displaced victims.
He plans to collaborate with agencies to provide essential supplies and support.
