The Ashanti Regional Police Command arrested Bella Merie on April 7, 2025. She is a 29-year-old Cameroonian national. Along with her, 43 other Cameroonians were also arrested. They are suspected of internet fraud and human trafficking.
The arrests took place at a residence in Kenyasi Abrem, Ashanti Region. A statement from Deputy Superintendent Godwin Ahianyo confirmed the details. Preliminary investigations show that Merie collected 4,500,000 CFA Francs from victims.
The victims include 32 males and 11 females. They were misled into believing they would get jobs in Ghana. The police noted that Merie used a known scam method called Q-NET.
All individuals involved are aged between 22 and 38 years old. They have been handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service for processing. This includes repatriation to their home country.
The Ghana Police Service remains committed to fighting fraud. They aim to protect both citizens and foreign nationals in the country.
