A/R: STC moves to reclaim encroached lands nationwide, vows humane approach

Inter-city STC Coaches Limited is starting a nationwide effort. This initiative aims to reclaim properties taken over by encroachers. The company is currently in legal disputes with individuals claiming ownership of its land.

The issue is especially serious in the Ashanti Region. Here, two-thirds of STC’s 22 acres in Oforikrom Municipality have been encroached upon. Both temporary and permanent structures have been built on this land.

Alhaji Nurudeen Hamdan, Deputy Managing Director of STC, expressed deep concern about the encroachment. He emphasized the company's commitment to reclaiming its assets. “We will treat everyone humanely but ensure Ghanaians benefit,” he stated.

Complicating matters, a residential apartment owned by STC was given to a private individual. This occurred under an agreement made by the previous administration. Alhaji Hamdan said the current leadership wants to reverse that decision.

He noted, “We need to identify problems and find solutions.” However, he added that the ultimate decision rests with the government. The company will follow legal advice to protect and recover its assets.
