Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the NDC, has issued a warning. He told government appointees to avoid corruption.
Asiedu Nketiah stated that a criminal is still a criminal. This applies whether they are from the NDC or NPP. He emphasized that the reset agenda targets all corrupt officials, not just political opponents.
Speaking at the 46th anniversary of the June 4 uprising in Odumase Krobo, he said, “We must send a strong signal to our own appointees.” He noted that misconduct will be addressed equally for all appointees.
He added, “Ghanaians will see we are resetting our nation.” This involves truth and accountability for those in power. Asiedu Nketiah stressed that political parties should not protect criminals.
Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama has made his stance clear. He will not influence anti-corruption agencies regarding investigations into his appointees.
Mahama revealed that 33 corruption cases against Akufo-Addo's appointees are being prepared. These cases were uncovered by the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Team he established after the 2024 election.
During a meeting with the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption at Jubilee House, Mahama explained further. The ORAL Committee identified these cases and handed them over to the Attorney General.
He mentioned special investigative teams have been created for each case. Some investigations have already found evidence of illicit wealth used for property procurement.
Mahama assured his Attorney General he would not interfere with their work. He stated he would not influence any investigation against anyone from previous administrations.
