Frank Davies, a member of Ken Ofori-Atta's legal team, spoke on Joy FM. He said the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) was informed about Ofori-Atta's medical issues.
On June 2, Mr. Davies revealed that a letter was sent to the OSP. This letter was dispatched on May 27, 2025. It stated that Ofori-Atta was receiving medical care in the United States. Therefore, he could not travel to Ghana for interrogation.
Mr. Davies noted that the OSP has not acknowledged receipt of this letter. However, he confirmed it was sent to their office.
Tensions have risen between Ofori-Atta and the OSP recently. The OSP warned that if he does not appear by June 2, he may be declared a fugitive again. This could lead to an INTERPOL Red Notice for his arrest.
Ofori-Atta served as Finance Minister under the New Patriotic Party government. He is currently being investigated for suspected corruption in five public transactions.
