‘A third term for Mahama will never happen’ - Titus Glover

Former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, has dismissed claims about President John Mahama seeking a third term. He called such ambitions unconstitutional.

Mr. Titus Glover spoke to JoyNews at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). He accused President Mahama of trying to undermine the judiciary. This, he believes, is an effort to amend the constitution for an extended tenure.

“We want to assure President Mahama that he has been given the power to govern,” he stated. He added that attempts to remove the Chief Justice are part of this plan. “President Mahama’s third term will never happen,” he reiterated.

The former minister criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for attacking the Chief Justice. He noted a surge of public commentary regarding charges against her.

“Today, she has filed an affidavit,” he said. “All she asks is for transparency. Is this too much to ask?”

Mr. Titus Glover described the situation as a “calculated attempt” by the president and his party to weaken judicial independence.

He recalled a statement from President Mahama during his campaign about dealing with the Chief Justice once in power. “Didn’t you hear? Didn’t you listen?” he questioned, referring to their open remarks on political platforms.
