Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President, welcomed Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang back to Ghana. She returned after a medical leave in the United Kingdom.
In a message on X, Dr. Bawumia thanked God for her recovery. He wished her well as she resumed work. He wrote, “A warm welcome back home to Vice-President Professor @NJOAgyemang. @SBawumia and I thank God for your speedy recovery.”
Vice President Opoku-Agyemang expressed gratitude to God and her medical team. She also thanked the President of Ghana for their support during her illness. She specifically mentioned Ibrahim Mahama, brother of former President John Dramani Mahama.
At the Kotoka International Airport on May 22, 2025, she said, “I want to thank all of you for your prayers and good wishes.” She added that she was grateful for Ibrahim Mahama's efforts during her hospital stay.
She stated, “He came to the hospital and sat by me; that was healing.” Opoku-Agyemang expressed happiness about being back and emphasized the work ahead. She believes they can achieve much more together for their country.
