The African American Association of Ghana (AAAG) is hosting a health fair. This event aims to raise awareness about health and wellness. It will empower individuals to take charge of their well-being.
The “2025 Community Health Fair” is on Sunday, May 4, 2025. It will be held at the W.E.B. DuBois Center in Cantonments, Accra. The fair runs from 10 am until dusk.
Activities include free health screenings and wellness workshops. There will also be a marketplace with local vendors and family activities. This initiative highlights the contributions of diasporans to Ghana’s development.
Ms. Shannan Akosua Magee, AAAG President, spoke about the event's goals. She hopes it will bridge the gap between health education and action for the underprivileged.
“This is more than just a fair,” she said. “It’s where community meets care.” The fair aims to provide quality wellness resources for everyone.
Ms. Magee encouraged participation from health professionals and NGOs. She emphasized exposing people to healthier lifestyle options.
“We believe everyone deserves access to information that improves lives,” she added. The health fair comes at a crucial time for Ghana's rising health issues.
Ghana faces increasing cases of hypertension, diabetes, and mental health challenges. The AAAG Health Fair supports the Ministry of Health’s efforts for community engagement and wellness.
