ACDT calls for Ghana Card to function as ATM Card for seamless transactions

The Africa Centre for Digital Transformation (ACDT) has urged the National Identification Authority (NIA), Bank of Ghana (BoG), and financial institutions to integrate the Ghana Card into banking transactions.

In a statement, ACDT highlighted that linking bank accounts to the card would enhance financial inclusion and security.

It proposed biometric authentication and PIN verification for transactions, alongside necessary upgrades to ATMs and POS systems.

The organization also called for regulatory safeguards against fraud and a nationwide awareness campaign to educate Ghanaians on its usage.
