ADC condemns attack on JoyNews reporter Latif Iddrisu, demands swift justice

The Africa Development Council (ADC) has condemned the assault on JoyNews journalist Latif Iddrisu. They are calling for urgent action from Ghana’s law enforcement agencies.

In a statement, the council described the attack as “dastardly.” They stressed that the attackers must be brought to justice quickly.

The ADC urged the Ghana Police Service to act swiftly. They noted that those responsible should already be in jail.

"The police must be proactive," the release emphasized. "The perpetrators of this dastardly act must face justice."

The ADC reaffirmed its commitment to good governance and accountability in Ghana. They also appealed directly to President John Mahama for intervention.

They urged him to ensure immediate police action regarding this case. “We appeal to the President to direct the Police urgently,” stated the Council.

However, they added that presidential intervention should not be necessary for justice. The Inspector General of Police must act independently and uphold the law.

“No citizen is above the law,” warned the ADC. They stated that attempts to derail economic progress due to accountability must stop.

The Council reminded public officials that power is temporary. Everyone in public office must be ready to answer for their actions.
