A pro-governance group, Alliance For Footsoldiers Advocacy (AFFA), has criticized Rashid Tanko. He is the CEO of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC). The group claims he engaged in illegal staff recruitment.
On Tuesday, AFFA filed a Right to Information (RTI) request. They demanded details about vacancies advertised by GIFEC last week. AFFA believes these positions were filled improperly.
The advertised roles included Principal Manager of Administration and Principal Manager of Research. Other positions were Senior Manager of Corporate Affairs and more. AFFA argues these roles were filled before the application deadline.
They noted that social media shows NDC supporters receiving congratulatory messages for these jobs. The application deadline is April 23, 2025.
“The GIFEC advertisement is a charade,” said the Executive Secretary of AFFA. “There are no real vacancies; they have been filled with NDC supporters.” He added that this followed the dismissal of individuals suspected to support the opposition NPP.
An anonymous GIFEC staff member supported AFFA's claims. This raises serious questions about the legality of their recruitment process.
GIFEC has 14 days to respond to the RTI request. AFFA plans to monitor this situation closely.
