The Office of the Attorney General has responded to Suspended Chief Justice Torkornoo's claims.
Justice Torkornoo filed an injunction application with the Supreme Court. She wants the court to interpret parts of the constitution. This interpretation would allow her to waive her right to privacy during proceedings.
In her application, she claimed that the proceedings are a mockery of justice. She believes they are a ruse to unjustly remove her from office.
The Attorney General opposed Torkornoo's motion to halt the ongoing removal proceedings. The AG’s affidavit rejected her claims about not being informed of reasons for the prima facie determination.
According to the AG’s office, relevant documents have been shared with appropriate parties. They also denied leaking documents related to her removal petition.
Meanwhile, Torkornoo filed a supplementary affidavit at the Supreme Court. She questioned how she can defend herself without knowing what she is defending against.
In this affidavit, she alleged violations of her fundamental rights during impeachment proceedings. She stated that what she is experiencing is worse than treatment given to those accused of treason.
Torkornoo asserted that she has not been informed about the legal basis for determining a prima facie case against her. She asked, “How can I defend myself when I don’t even know what I’m defending against?”
In her supplementary affidavit filed on May 26, 2025, Torkornoo outlined several issues. These include denial of access for her husband and children during hearings and searches on her body.
She also mentioned restrictions on access to phones and laptops for herself and her lawyers. In contrast, counsel for petitioners had access to their devices.
Torkornoo described these actions as deliberate efforts to subject her to mental torture and degrading treatment. She stated, “They want to break me.”
She emphasized that such treatment is not even meted out to persons accused of treason.
