AG admits pressure to prosecute amid NDC’s anti-corruption campaign

The Attorney General (AG) is feeling pressure to pursue corruption cases. This pressure comes from the public's demand for accountability. It follows the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) promise to recover looted state funds.

At a press conference on March 24, the AG discussed the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) initiative. This initiative was a major part of President John Dramani Mahama’s campaign. It resonated with Ghanaians and helped the NDC win the election.

The AG said, "The NDC campaigned seriously on accountability." He added that Ghanaians supported this campaign. That support led them to vote for holding abusers of public office accountable. He emphasized that his pressure comes from ordinary citizens, not political figures.

His remarks come as public scrutiny increases over government actions against financial misconduct in past administrations.

Despite his busy schedule, the AG stays connected with public sentiment. He pays attention to social media where citizens express their eagerness for action against corruption.

"People want to know what we are doing about those who have looted resources," he stated. He acknowledged that even his colleagues feel progress is slow. However, he insists he will not rush to court on any case.
