Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine has responded to MP Kwame Asare-Obeng, known as A Plus. He challenged A Plus to provide evidence for his corruption claims made on social media.
On April 30, Dr. Ayine addressed the media. He dismissed the allegations as unfounded and called them "palpable falsehoods." He specifically denied claims that he misdirected funds from the Sanitation Levy to a friend.
Dr. Ayine stated that he carefully considers his actions. His integrity is what led him to become Attorney General. He said, “A Plus accused me of being corrupt and a thief.”
He clarified that he was not involved in passing the sanitation levy. He was not a member of the Finance Committee in Parliament.
Dr. Ayine also addressed campaign-related allegations against him. A Plus claimed he received contributions from a businessman named Dr. Slege.
Dr. Ayine responded, saying if receiving donations is corruption, then many MPs are guilty too. “There are 276 thieves in Parliament,” he noted.
He concluded by challenging A Plus to present any evidence publicly or report it to the police for investigation.
