AMA assures daily waste collection, calls for collaboration on homelessness

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has reaffirmed its commitment to consistent waste collection across the capital, assuring residents that refuse in areas under its jurisdiction, including Circle, is cleared daily.

Speaking on The Citi Breakfast Show, AMA Public Relations Officer Gilbert Ankrah emphasized that operations remain uninterrupted despite the absence of a fully appointed mayor.

He added that measures have been put in place to ensure waste management efficiency in 2024.

Addressing homelessness, Ankrah noted that while AMA collaborates with Social Welfare, the lack of formal shelters complicates the issue.

He called for a multi-agency approach to find lasting solutions. As Accra faces rapid urbanization, the AMA insists that waste collection and social welfare concerns must be tackled collectively.
