AMA decongestion exercise: It will only last for 7 months - former MP Ebenezer Nartey

Ebenezer Gilbert Nii Narh Nartey, a former MP for Ablekuma Central, has made a prediction. He believes the Accra Metropolitan Assembly's decongestion exercise will only be effective for seven months.

He shared his views on Joy Prime. Nartey stated that political challenges will hinder the project's continuation. He expects its effectiveness to end on December 31, 2025.

Nartey said, “This project will last for seven months. If it goes beyond that, I’ll give them a thumbs up.” However, he is confident it won't last longer due to political issues.

He noted that politics influences all aspects of the country. Every year feels like an election year for both government and opposition. This situation makes it hard for leaders to address issues effectively.

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) began its decongestion exercise on May 19. The initiative focuses on the Central Business District and is led by Mayor Michael Kpakpo Allotey.

Mr. Allotey has reintroduced the Red Line concept. This aims to prevent trading activities from spilling onto streets and improve traffic flow for vehicles and pedestrians.
