ASEC to host high-level Africa Sustainable Energy Dialogue on May 16

The Africa Sustainable Energy Centre (ASEC) will host the Africa Sustainable Energy Dialogue (ASED). This virtual event is set for Friday, May 16, 2025.

The theme is “Bridging Africa's Energy Access Gap – Challenges, Innovations & the Path Forward.” The dialogue aims to address a critical issue: universal access to reliable electricity in Africa.

Over 600 million people in sub-Saharan Africa lack dependable power. The ASED will offer a platform for sharing innovative solutions and creating actionable policies. It will also strengthen collaboration between public and private sectors.

More than 1,000 participants are expected at the event. Attendees include policymakers, energy executives, development partners, scholars, and technology innovators. Together, they will work on a shared vision for sustainable energy in Africa.

Confirmed speakers include Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim from Nigeria and Mr. Kweku Awotwi from Ghana. Other notable speakers are Professor Emeritus Abubakar Sani Sambo from Nigeria and Dr. Alfred Ofosu Ahenkorah from Ghana.

Additional speakers include Monique Motty from Congo and Noureddine Hamri from Morocco. Daniel Bungey from Kenya and Sabrine Emran from Morocco will also participate.

Participants should register in advance through ASEC’s official platforms to attend the event.
